The diabetes is a chronic disease, characterized by high glucose levels in the blood (hyperglycemia). The diabetes appears when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or when the organism is unable to use effectively the insulin produced by the pancreas. The insulin is a hormone that helps the cells to absorb the glucose from the blood and turn it into energy. In conclusion the disease is triggered when the organism does not have sufficient insulin or is unable to use the insulin for turning glucose into energy. The type 2 diabetes (known as the adult age diabetes) is the most common form of diabetes. The type 2 diabetes is triggered by the incapacity to efficiently use insulin. The affected persons can often ameliorate their status by altering their way of life. In many cases oral medication is needed. Sometimes insulin must be administered. Nearly 50% of the type 2 diabetes affected persons are not aware of their condition.
