Arterial sclerosis

General information:

In present it is undeniable that cardio-vascular diseases constitute the most frequent mortality cause, in over 50% of the cases, of which 80 – 90% due to arterial sclerosis in heart blood vessels, and 15 – 20% to cerebral blood vessels arterial sclerosis.

The arterial sclerosis is a combination of heart arteries modifications, by the accumulation of lipids, poly-sugars, blood and constituents, fiber tissue and calcium deposits, accompanied by muscular clothing modification.

The deposits of fat substances, rich in cholesterol in endothelium (atheroma) start during the childhood or adolescence, accompanied by a fiber reaction (atheroma, fiber sclerosis); calcium salts progressive deposits lead to ulcerations. The extension of arterial sclerosis processes destroy the muscular clothing of the artery, leading to dilatations (aneurisms), or obstructions more or less complete, arterial stenosis and ischemic diseases.

Arterial sclerosis

The progressive stenosis of blood vessels slow the blood flow and the atheromata ulcerations and endothelium lesions favors the coagulate factors and finally lead to blood clogs or arterial thrombosis (vessel clogging).

The natural history of arterial sclerosis is translated by three terms:

- atheroma, fiber sclerosis;

- ischemic diseases;

- thrombosis.

Chronologically the clinic manifestations of arterial sclerosis appear late. The delay since the installation of atheroma and the apparition of the first clinic signs of arterial stenosis (ischemic diseases) and thrombosis varies between 10 and 30 years. The manifestation of the disease coincides with the complete obstruction of the vessel due to insufficient collateral circulation, either through repeated thrombosis.

Artichoke is very efficient in these cases, prepared as it followes:

Use 30 grams of artichoke leaf for 500 milliliters of water. Boil them for 20 minutes and then strain. Drink one cup before the three main meals. This decoction creates and increased diuretic effect.
